MARY MARY

Mary Mary quite contrary
How does your garden grow
With pesticide and fungicide
And a host of things I don't know
We spray them on and sprinkle round
To keep the aphids down
We watch them grow
We watch them yield
Then rot into the ground

Now GM foods are mighty fine
Got no pests or faults
They're made by man as only he can
And nature can go get lost
They promise nothing could go wrong
As the dollars roll around
We watch them grow
We watch them yield
Then rot into the ground

Now mother earth she's been thinking hard
'Bout what she'd like to yield
But the GM crops and the pesticides
Are poisoning her fields
The life that once lived around here
Now cannot be found
We watched them grow
We watched them yield
Then rot into the ground

Now Uncle Sam is a generous man
And his kindness really shows
With GM crops nature stops
'til it's only the dollar that grows
Cross-pollination will contaminate our nation
Make a wasteland of our ground
We watch them grow
We watch them yield
Then rot into the ground

Now if we don't do something soon
There won't be nothing left
Ain't it funny how a pocketful of money
Makes a politician deaf
We vote them in we vote them out
Still no saviour comes around
We watch them grow
We watch them yield
Then rot into the ground

Now the rain falls on the land I know
And flows to the sea in streams
Pollutants get absorbed by fish
Then we eat them with chips it seems
Heart disease obesity
No cure is being found
Just watch us grow
Just watch us yield
Then rot into the ground

Now Mary Mary is it me
Or has the whole world gone to seed
Now sir I don't want your processed food
Or your profit sharing schemes
Just give us food that's chemical free
And value pound for pound
We'll watch it grow
We'll watch it yield
Then rot into the ground

Mary Mary quite contrary
How does your garden grow
