THE D.J. PLAYED A NUMBER

Driving home late last night radio playing strong
The D.J. played a number that used to be our song

I remember late on Friday nights waiting for your dad to get in
We'd let him go upstairs to bed before we'd begin
And after you'd creep up the stairs when our lovemaking was done
With underwear full of lovin' and I'd cycle home alone

Driving home late last night radio playing strong
The D.J. played a number that used to be our song

Listening to those words and the harmonies they sang
Reminds me of that day in the park we walked and talked and ran
Both young hearts running free we'd stay out long after dark
Young love would last forever at least that's what we thought

Driving home late last night radio playing strong
The D.J. played a number that used to be our song

I can feel the rythmn now as we danced cheek to cheek
Your body pressing hard on mine and your perfume oh so sweet
As we moved together circling really slow...
Well the music takes me back there all those years ago

Driving home late last night radio playing strong
The D.J. played a number that used to be our song

As the music fades I place the memory back away
Into a place inside of me where it will always stay
Life isn't just what's yet to come it includes what's gone before
When a moment passes to a memory in our hearts is where it's stored

Driving home late last night radio playing strong
The D.J, played a number that used to be our song
Yes the D.J. played a number that used to be our song
