THE STREAM OF LIFE She started in the post roomJust after leaving school Worked hard she worked well And moved to the investment pool A few years grit and promotion clicked She got her audit position Proud as punch for a couple of months 'til redundancy was the company's mission The stream keeps flowing The wind keeps blowing The oceans roll to the shore Compared to this beauty What does any of this matter anymore He worked hard put his money away Just like he'd been taught in his younger days Saved it all up to put down on a house Sold his flat had a kid and moved in with the spouse He worked all hours that god sent along His wife became restless things went wrong He had to move out back on his own Lost his wife lost his kid and his savings were gone The stream keeps flowing The wind keeps blowing The oceans roll to the shore Money's one thing work is another But life is what living's for Now it seems to me that things go on Well I had a wife now my wife's gone I've got a good job and I get good pay But the mortgage payments take it all away You never know what comes around One moment you're up the next you're down One thing I've learned you've got to get up No-one cares about you when you're down on your luck The stream keeps flowing The wind keeps blowing The oceans roll to the shore Sometimes something else opens With the closing of a door I bought a ticket and went for a ride Across the world to the other side I saw the mountains I saw the trees I sailed the ocean and felt the breeze However bad it might seem to you Sooner or later you're gonna pull through Like the ebb of the tide and the wane of the moon The stream of life keeps flowing on The stream keeps flowing The wind keeps blowing The oceans roll to the shore I've seen this beauty for myself And know it's worth living for The stream of life keeps flowing on The stream of life keeps flowing on The stream of life keeps flowing on Copyright © 2000-2010 Greg Harper.
